Every fall, teachers and catechists must determine what their children already know well and what they may need to learn. Depending on the age of your children, they may need a review of how to make the Sign of the Cross or an introduction to the Gospels. It’s important to keep these sessions casual—no child wants to feel singled out for not knowing something that “everyone” else seems to already know.
Many of the free seasonal activities available from Pflaum for fall may be used as the basis for a game or a group question-and-answer session. You may also choose to have the children work on an activity in pairs or small groups. If one child doesn’t have the answer, another likely will. This overview of the liturgical calendar, for example, is meant for Venture-age children (Grades 4–6), however, the information can be used to introduce children of any age to the colors, dates, and names associated with the Church year.

I teach 3rd & 4th. Most of the class was really interested in the calendar at the back of their book. I was actually surprised. We never know what they will be interested in.
Thanks for sharing! It will now appear in Good News, Venture, and Visions texts!
