Children walk into your classroom with a rich variety of experiences and knowledge. Catechists and teachers need to assess, however, where their students are in terms of core knowledge of important areas of learning about faith, including prayer, sacraments, and Scripture. The Gospel Weeklies offer weekly lesson templates—free, printable lesson reviews for each level—that help catechists determine whether the children “got it.”
Since Gospel Weeklies lessons are anchored by the Sunday Gospel, the templates ask the children to recall that week’s message, whether it’s through drawing a picture of the Gospel or writing a summary of the Gospel and its key messages. The templates are also a valuable tool for assessing students who need to study a lesson on their own due to absence. They are designed for each level and are available in English and Spanish.
I feel this is a great idea. It is something that a teacher should use to make sure their class had an understanding of the lesson. Love it!
