SUNDAY’S GOSPEL – October 15, 2017

102

Matthew 22:1–10

The Gospel proclaims another of Jesus’ parables—the story of the wedding feast. A king sent his servants out to invite people to his son’s wedding. He really wanted to share his great joy. The king was surprised and hurt when many refused his invitation. After his further invitations met with disaster, the king dispatched his servants to go into the streets and get enough guests to fill the hall. Even then, somebody showed up without a wedding garment. God invites many to the great feast between Jesus and humankind, but even then it is possible to refuse the invitation.

Since the Sunday Gospel is the heart of the Gospel Weeklies, an important part of preparing to share the Gospel with children is to read and reflect on it in advance of your class session. The Gospel at Home and The Gospel for All Ages (see Gathering Rituals/Questions) are resources on our website that can help you do this.
