One school activity that is universally popular with students is a field trip. A tour of your parish church is fun and educational and can serve as a reset for a distracted class. Call It by the Right Name is a matching activity for Visions students. It lists the proper names for items and places found in almost any church building—from sanctuary to sacristy, baptistry to baldacchino.
Students who are beginning to serve more often in worship and ministry areas as lectors and cantors will have increasing need for this information; it also will help them to become more familiar with their church home. Take your students on a tour of your church, pointing out the different items and places; then have them take complete the activity on their own.
