As everyone stands, repeat the song and actions to “God Gave Me Hands” (CD-1, #13). Then pray: “Loving God, thank you for all the gifts you give us. / Thank you for our families and friends. / Thank you for birds and pets. / Thank you for hands and arms that hug us and do good things for us.” The children respond, “Amen.”Remind the children to share their Gospel Weeklies with their families and to do the Family Corner activities and prayer together.Belonging is very important to children. They gain security and confidence from belonging to a loving and extended family.Children gain security and confidence from belonging to their church family too. Part of that security of belonging comes from understanding and feeling comfortable with the words they hear and the actions they see in church.Help the children turn to page 31 and find the words fair, share, right, wrong, loving, unloving. You may wish to print them on the board for the children to match their handbooks.For each word or word pair, ask: What is the word for this picture? Who knows what this word means? Where did you hear it before? Is this a word you hear in church?Have the children close the What the Church Believes and Teaches handbooks and return to Seeds, page 3.Live the GospelObjective The children will recognize things in life that make people happy.Activity l Anaya’s Bad Day (pages 2–3) Invite the children to study the picture on page 3. Picture squares at the bottom of the page show a dog, bird, squirrel, and Anaya. These are missing from the picture above. Demonstrate how to cut out the four picture squares and glue them in place to complete the big picture.Invite the children to use pages 2–3 to retell Anaya’s story to each other. Ask the children to name all the things they can find in the pictures that they’re thankful for.
