Catholic Identity Project of the Week
While we cannot heal sickness like Jesus did, we can provide comfort to people who are sick. As a class, write a card to residents of a local nursing home or hospital, wishing the recipients a quick recovery.
Saints and Feast Days to Celebrate
● February 6: Saint Paul Miki and Companions – A Jesuit brother born in Japan in late 16th century, Paul Miki and 26 others— catechists, missionaries, laymen, servants, elderly people, and children—were crucified in 1627 for their Christian beliefs. Today, there are about 500,000 Catholics in Japan.
● February 8: Saint Josephine Bakhita – Kidnapped, sold into slavery, and abused, Josephine Bakhita eventually came to live with Canossian Sisters in Venice. There, she dedicated her life to God. Canonized in 2000, Saint Josephine Bakhita is patron of Sudan.
