Catholic Identity Project of the Week
When he healed the man with leprosy, Jesus helped both the man and the community. We often overlook people in our communities who do good deeds. Research some local people who are doing good deeds and share their stories with the children. If possible, invite these people to tell their own stories.
● February 14: Ash Wednesday – This day marks the start of Lent. The 40-day period symbolizes the time Jesus spent in the desert before he began his ministry. Lent comes from the Old English word Lenten, which means “spring.” Attend Mass today to receive ashes and begin your Lenten journey.
● February 14: Saint Valentine of Terni – It’s believed that Valentine defied the emperor Claudius who prohibited soldiers from marrying before they headed to war. The secret marriages he performed may have led Valentine to be known as the patron of lovers and happy marriages. Send a loving message to someone who misses you.
