Curriculum Connections

l Tech: Have the students work in pairs and use a computer or tablet to write about each of their family’s Easter traditions. With assistants working with the pairs or as a whole class, use a kid-friendly safe search engine to explore Easter celebrations around the world. Allow the class to share how the celebrations are similar and different. (ISTE2016.7)

Catholic Identity Project of the Week
The Catholic Church has a long history of artists portraying significant religious moments. This week, help the children become artists. On a large piece of paper, have them create a mural or mosaic of the ways Jesus is alive in the world (i.e., at Mass, when we share with each other, when we help those in need, when we pray, etc.). Coordinate with the other religious educators to display these works of art around the parish.
Saints and Feast Days to Celebrate
l April 8: Divine Mercy Sunday – The story of Saint Faustina Kowalska—and, of course, God’s boundless mercy—reveal the inspiration behind the Divine Mercy devotion. Sister Faustina had a vision of Christ that has become known as The Divine Mercy. Pray: Jesus, I trust in you. Amen.
l April 9: The Annunciation of the Lord – Normally celebrated
on March 25 (nine months before Christmas), this solemnity is transferred to the Monday after the 2nd Sunday of Easter if March
25 occurs during Holy Week. On this day, we celebrate Mary’s yes— “May it be done to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38)—to God’s invitation to be the mother of Jesus.
