  Distribute the children’s What the Church Believes and Teaches handbooks.
Easter basket and the eggs on page 3. Direct them to cut off the strip of eggs and turn the strip over to see the eggs on that side too. Ask: What pictures are on the eggs? Why are these symbols
of Easter? Invite them to color the words Happy Easter on the basket and then cut around the eggs. If some cannot cut around the egg shapes, direct them to cut on the straight lines separating the eggs. Invite them to glue the eggs in the basket any way they wish.
Activity l Signs of Spring (page 4) Gather the children in the open area. Talk about how all of nature is God’s Creation. Have them take turns naming one sign of spring and then pantomiming it. Examples: baby birds trying to fly; flowers growing from seeds; sun rising to warm the Earth; baby rabbits hopping; butterflies flying; chicks hatching, then peeping and scratching for food; baby lambs baaaing for their mothers.
Invite the children to return to their worktables and look at page 4 of Seeds. Read the title. Direct them to take a crayon and put an X on each hidden sign of spring they find. Tell the children that a lamb is another symbol of Jesus. He is often referred to in the Bible as the Lamb of God.
Closing Prayer Gather the children in the prayer circle with their tomb covering the image of the Risen Jesus. Have them sit on the floor with the folded tomb in front of them. As you say the prayer, they open up the tomb one fold at a time.
Thank you, God, for Easter eggs.
Thank you, God, for signs of spring.
Thank you, God, for raising Jesus to new life. Thank you, God, for making each of us alive. Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
End your prayer and gathering by playing and singing “New Life” (CD-2, #10).
Remind the children to share their Gospel Weeklies with their families and to do the Family Corner activities and prayer together.

What Did You Learn? (page 26)
 Move to the work area and help the children find page 26 in their Catechism handbooks. Explain that you will review what the children have learned.
As the children look at the illustrations, tell them
to have their crayons ready and to listen carefully to your directions. Direct the children to use their brown crayons to draw a circle around Saint Joseph. If they need help,
ask them to recall what Saint Joseph did to earn money to support Jesus and Mary. They should look for a man with a carpenter’s tools. Then invite the children to draw
l  a blue circle around a child saying night prayers.
l  a black circle around the holy book of our church family.
Ask: What do we call this book?
l  a red circle around Jesus the Good Shepherd. Ask: What
shows you that Jesus is a shepherd?
Point out that these are just some of the things they learned this year. Encourage them to keep learning about Jesus so that they can grow to love him more too.
Have the children close the What the Church Believes and Teaches handbooks and return to Seeds, page 3.
    Live the Gospel
Objective The children will find signs of the new life of spring.
Activity l Happy Easter (page 3) Remain in the work area. Ask: Who has helped color Easter eggs? Tell them the reason we color eggs at Easter is to remind us of Jesus’ Resurrection. Just as new life is hidden inside of an egg, so was Jesus hidden inside the tomb after he died. Then God called him to new life. The hard shell of the egg symbolizes the sealed tomb of Christ. When we crack an egg, it symbolizes Jesus’ Resurrection from the dead.
Distribute Seeds pages 3–4 to the children. Have them look at the
