Sunday Readings: Acts 3:13–15, 17–19; 1 John 2:1–5a; Luke 24:35–48
        For Catechists and Teachers
Scripture Background
In Sunday’s Gospel, the Risen Jesus appears to his friends with a message of peace and forgiveness.
Connecting Scripture and Doctrine
Seeds helps children identify with the feelings of fear, shame, disbelief, and joy the disciples felt at the time of Jesus’ Death and Resurrection. Preschool children know what it is to be happy, sad, and angry. It is important that they recognize their feelings as given by God and, therefore, good. It’s okay to feel happy, sad, or angry, but we have to find appropriate ways of dealing with these feelings.
“We who are made in God’s image share [God’s] communal, social nature. We are called to reach out and to build relationships of love and justice” (NDC, 43). See also CCC, 1111.
Sharing the Lesson with Families
Remind parents that the time they spend talking with their child and the interest they show nurture the feelings of being accepted and loved, feelings important for a child’s growth and for their faith and trust in themselves and in God.
