Many teachers and catechists are busy preparing for students’ return this month. No matter when your faith formation instruction begins, Pflaum Gospel Weeklies provides three Early Start lessons for Seeds, Promise, Good News, Venture, and Visions. The lessons follow the program’s new three-step lesson plan—Share Experiences, Discover Gospel and Doctrine, and Live the Gospel. But unlike the regular weekly lessons that begin Sunday, September 24, these Early Start lessons are not connected to a particular Sunday Gospel, so they may be used at any time, in any order.
Most of the lessons are topic-based—Bible introductions, prayer basics, and community building—and are age-appropriate. In Seeds, for example, the We Pray Together lesson helps you make certain that all preschoolers can make the Sign of the Cross, which the Visions lesson on prayer walks students through a Prayer Profile activity and examines how they will can build a strong relationship with God.
Early Start lessons can help you quickly identify what the children in your class already know about God and the Church, as well as what you may need to emphasize or review. The lessons include activities, as well as music suggestions from the new Pflaum Music CDs.
