Catholic Potpourri

Catholic Potpourri

When Catholics think of a church that’s associated with the Pope, many automatically think of St. Peter’s Basilica. This is a good answer, but if asked to name the “Pope’s church in Rome,” the correct answer is the Basilica of Saint John Lateran. This church is the cathedral of Rome and the Pope’s (as bishop of Rome) see. It is considered the mother church of the Roman Catholic faithful throughout the world. We remember the dedication of this basilica every year on November 9. Find out more about it here and take a virtual tour of this important church.

A good faith vocabulary can help adults and children understand and express religious ideas and name religious objects. Find two Building Your Family’s Faith Vocabulary activities here: Fall, Holiday.

November 11 is the Feast of Saint Martin of Tours. Find out more about him here.

November 13 is the Feast of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini. Find out more about her here.

Is there any feast tour like this (from November 2020) in this year?

When we begin our Gospel Weeklies program year in September, we’ll start featuring more saint feasts and link to seasonal resources about many of them. In the meantime, you can check out our collection of blog posts about saints. We’re currently offering a weekly post about Saint Joseph during this Year of Saint Joseph, so scroll through the several pages of saints posts to find other saints we’ve featured. Thanks for reading!
