Curriculum Connections and More

Curriculum Connections and More

It’s not too tough to think of ways to apply a Sunday Gospel message to a Language Arts lesson but making connections to Math and Science can pose more of a challenge. Teachers look for ways to bring multiple subject areas into every lesson—to meet standards, reinforce learning, and get the most out of every minute of instruction. The Pflaum Gospel Weeklies Teaching Guides offer weekly Curriculum Connections based on the Sunday Gospel. The editors have worked with teachers to develop age-appropriate projects that continue the Gospel message from Religion class into multiple subject areas. Look for the Curriculum Connections feature in a blue box following the Five-Day Lesson Pacing Guide in your Teaching Guide.

If teachers or catechists (or parents) are looking for additional ways to extend a lesson, look to the yellow Extending the Lesson box below the Curriculum Connections in your Teaching Guide. You’ll find a Catholic Identity Project of the Week as well as Saints and Feast Days to Celebrate. Many of the Seeds and Promise lessons have Extending Activities (including story coloring pages) on our website.
