This Sunday is the newly designated Sunday of the Word of God. While we revere and reflect on the Word of God at every Mass, Pope Francis invites us to more intentionally build and strengthen the Church’s love of Sacred Scripture. As users of the Gospel Weeklies, you are doing that with every lesson!
We encourage catechists, teachers, and families to place a Bible in a special location as a sign to the children of the value of the Word of God in Sacred Scripture. Catechists and teachers may begin class with a Bible procession, enthroning the Bible in a place of honor where the Gospel is proclaimed. You may find catechetical, ecumenical, liturgical, and prayer resources related to this observance here.
