FROM OUR EDITORS—Sunday, July 2 • 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time

editorsize sparklecrossIn Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus says, “[W]hoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”

Every one of us is burdened by the crosses of this life. Some people’s burdens are more noticeable than others, but we all have them. When life gets difficult, we each have a choice to make. We can either share our cross with Christ and follow where he leads or try to carry our cross alone, thinking a loving God wouldn’t give us such a burden so he either doesn’t exist or doesn’t care.

I honestly don’t know how those who carry their crosses alone manage. The gift of faith—in good times and bad—is what makes all the difference! May we persevere in difficult times and allow them to strengthen our faith in the One who carried the heaviest Cross for us all. And let’s pray for those who think they have to carry on without God’s help.

I noticed the Grow Blog has now taken the place of the newsletter. When I received the newsletter, I could print out the whole newsletter. When I receive the Grow Blog the articles are not complete when you print. On each article you have to go to (read more) click on that and then print out that article. It would be nice if I could print the News Blog with completed articles and not have to do extra steps to print out. Will this change in the future? Thank You.

I didn’t respond to your comment immediately because I wanted to check in with our technology folks about this. We moved to the blog format for several reasons—to create a more searchable archive by category; to offer weekly, smaller, and more immediately relevant postings; to make the email cleaner and simpler; and to allow readers to more quickly find the article(s) they’re interested in since our readership has different expectations. What we didn’t intend was to make things more difficult for faithful readers like you! For now, all of our articles are printable but not in a single file. We are taking your comment into consideration. If we hear this same concern from others, we will work to address this need in the future.
