Honoring Mary in May

Honoring Mary in May

May is traditionally a month for honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary. This year, the entire month of May is also in the Easter season (Pentecost, the final Sunday of Easter is on May 31). As we continue our celebration of Easter, we can join Mary in rejoicing that Jesus has been raised from the dead—and what this meant for her and what it means for all of Jesus’ followers.

Find out about some Flowers Named for Mary and encourage children and parents to spend some time outdoors together, locating those flowers that grow in your area.

Pray along with Mary’s yes to God (her fiat) and her song of praise (her Magnificat) in John Burland’s music video to the song, “God Reigns.” May the lyrics “I place my trust in you, O God, in your mercy, in your glory and might” be a special prayer as we continue to deal with the unsettling challenges the pandemic has brought into our lives.
