Lent Through a Child’s Eyes

Lent Through a Child’s Eyes

Take a minute to look at Lent through the eyes of a child. First, Lent feels long. Forty days whip by quickly for adults, but it is a long stretch of time for a child. Second, Lent can feel a little unfair. Children may be frustrated about why they are giving up favorite things. Let’s Learn About Lent / Aprendamos sobre la Cuaresma introduces children to some of the basics about Lent—for example, the liturgical color and when it falls in the Church Year. It also begins to explain why Catholics give up things during Lent and attend church more often. Open a conversation about why sacrifice is a part of Lent and how Lent is more about what we give—not just what we give up.
