Catechetical Sunday is Sunday, September 18. This annual celebration marks the beginning of the catechetical year in most parishes. It’s the perfect opportunity to gather families, students, and catechists for a kick-off event. Many parishes will commission its catechists at a Sunday Mass.
This year’s theme for Catechetical Sunday is “This is my body given for you” from Luke 22:19. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) provides support materials for parishes and catechists. These include posters, prayer cards, articles, and certificates. Some resources are available for both download and purchase.
This year’s theme for Catechetical Sunday relates well with the Eucharistic Revival taking place throughout the U.S. Note the Eucharist Quote in every lesson of the Gospel Weeklies and check out Pflaum’s webpage of resources that promote belief in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
