Luke 3:1–6

In Sunday’s Gospel, John the Baptist urges people to prepare the way of the Lord and make straight his path. Saint John quotes the prophet Isaiah who also states that the mountains and hills will be made low, the winding roads made straight, and the rough ways made smooth. The prophet also says that everyone will see the salvation of God. December 8 is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception—a special holy day to celebrate Mary our Mother. And next Sunday, December 12, is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe—the patroness of the Americas.

See The Gospel at Home (English and Spanish) for suggested family activities and discussion starters related to this Sunday’s Gospel.
