The Gospel places the beginning of Jesus’ ministry in Galilee, where he spent his time teaching, proclaiming God’s kingdom, and healing the sick. Galilee is situated between the Mediterranean Sea and the Sea of Galilee, and many people who lived there were fishermen. Jesus invited his new friends to drop their nets and follow him. He promised them that they would now be fishing for people instead of fish.
