Who among us doesn’t remember with fondness and surprising recall the songs we learned as children? I remember Sister Shirley teaching me and my classmates a song about Zacchaeus. We sang “His Banner Over Me Is Love” (with gestures) at our First Communion Mass.
Music is more than just enjoyable. It promotes active listening, supports recall, increases participation, caters to a variety of learning modes, fosters relaxation, supports classroom management, and connects to movement.
