Did you know that only 8 percent of New Year’s resolutions are kept—and that most fade away by mid-January? (January 12 has become known as Quitter’s Day.) But don’t despair: if you resolved to spend more time in prayer or Bible study in 2019, there is no time like right now to recommit yourself to these important practices. Encourage your children and families to work on building their family prayer time together.
Most resolutions fail because they are too ambitious or vague. Instead of committing to spending more time in prayer, say, “I will pray as I am getting ready for work or school” or “I will thank God for three things before I eat my lunch.” Building a habit is a matter of mindfulness. Use Religious Resolutions to write your commitments to prayer and other religious practices, like sharing your faith with others. The free activity page is meant for Venture children, but may be adapted for use with all grades, as well as with adults, so be sure to share it with your families.
