The flexible nature of the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies permits a traditional once-a-week parish program, daily school religion classes, and a number of other more specialized formats. See our pacing plans for models for using the Gospel Weeklies with nearly every parish or school group, including military families, special needs, and RCIA.
Many parishes use the Gospel Weeklies for children who participate in the process of RCIA, adapted for children. The catechumenal model draws from the Sunday celebration of the Eucharist and the Word of God proclaimed there. The Gospel Weeklies build every lesson on the Sunday Gospels and so provide a seamless integration of a child’s experience at Mass with their faith formation sessions. If your parish doesn’t already use the Gospel Weeklies for children in RCIA, we invite you to explore how well our liturgical catechesis fits with the catechumenal model.
Through all four units of our program year, we offer Sunday Gospel reflections and questions for adults and children in the RCIA. For the Scrutiny Sundays (3rd, 4th, and 5th Sundays of Lent), we provide the Year A lessons every year. It happens that we are currently in Year A, but we have updated these lessons online for future years.
